Error: Files required to manage your compressed...(due to hidden files missing).
Error:
Files required to manage your compressed drive(s) are missing on drive <x>. To restore these files, copy the MINI.CAB from your Windows 95 Setup Disk 1 or CD-ROM into your Windows directory. The next time you run...the missing files will be restored.
Cause:
These errors occur when the files in the hidden FAILSAFE.DRV\FAILSAFE directory on drive C:\ are missing and DriveSpace cannot find the MINI.CAB file in the Windows 95 SYSTEM subdirectory.
Solution:
Use Windows Explorer to copy the MINI.CAB file from the original Windows 95 distribution media to the Windows 95 SYSTEM subdirectory.
Do one of the following:
1) Copy the MINI.CAB file from the original Windows 95 distribution media CD-ROM:
a) Insert the original Windows 95 CD into the CD-ROM drive.
b) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
c) Select 'Programs' and select 'Windows Explorer'. (The 'Exploring' window appears.)
1] Select the CD-ROM drive directory (usually D:\) from the left pane of the 'Exploring' window. (The contents of the CD appear in the right pane of the Explorer window.)
NOTE: The MINI.CAB file is in the Win95 folder on the Windows 95 distribution CD.
2] Double-click the Win95 folder in the right pane of the Explorer window. (The contents of the folder appear.)
3] Select the MINI.CAB file.
4] Select the 'Edit' menu in the 'Exploring' window, and select 'Copy'.
5] In the left pane of the 'Exploring' window, double-click the C:\ drive.
6] Double-click the WINDOWS directory.
7] Double-click the SYSTEM directory.
8] Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste'. (The MINI.CAB file is copied to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.)
2) Copy the MINI.CAB file from Disk 1 of the 3.5-inch Windows 95 distribution media disk set:
a) Insert the Windows 95 disk labeled 'Disk #1' into the floppy drive.
b) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
c) Select 'Programs' and select 'Windows Explorer'. (The 'Exploring' window appears.)
1] Select the disk drive from the left pane of the 'Exploring' window. (The contents of the disk appear in the right pane of the 'Exploring' window.)
NOTE: The MINI.CAB file is in the Win95 folder on the Windows 95 distribution CD.
2] Double-click the Win95 folder in the right pane of the 'Exploring' window. (The contents of the folder appear.)
3] Select the MINI.CAB file.
4] Select the 'Edit' menu of the 'Exploring' window, and select 'Copy'.
5] In the left pane of the 'Exploring' window, double-click the C:\ drive.
6] Double-click the WINDOWS directory.
7] Double-click the SYSTEM directory.
8] Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste'. (The MINI.CAB file is copied to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.)
